The Tale of The Giant Caterpillar-Like God Called Tractor
One day, this giant caterpillar-like god, who's name happened to be Tractor, looked down upon her nomadic people and saw that they were basically tired of walking around all day in the desert. (Shoe stores were very hard to come by, making shoes were very expensive.) One day, the highest-ranking female called upon Tractor. (It was a female-dominated society.)
"What do you ask of me," Tractor asked.
"Oh, mighty Tractor," the mortal said, "We've been wandering all of our lives. We are a nomadic tribe, after all. But we grow tired of the males' inability to ask for directions. We, the females, would greatly appreciate it if you could give us a permanent structure to reside in."
Tractor barely gave this a second's thought. (Then again, she was a god and had the ability to think really fast.) To the joy of the nomadic tribe, Tractor agreed. But she asked only one thing.
"It gets really lonely up here," Tractor said. "In return for making the building, I want you to come up with a story. For each story, I will build another level."
The mortal readily agreed. She gathered all of the tribe's best storytellers and returned to the same spot she had first seen Tractor. (It didn't matter, but what did the humans know?) Tractor called upon the first storyteller to tell her story. She told a grand story of how she once fought off three one-eyed monsters with two toothpicks and an old shoelace. It was a story that would have made McGuyver proud. Tractor granted the tribe one floor.
Unfortunately, that was the only story that the tribe came up with. But since Tractor was a kind and giving caterpillar, she made the floor really big so that it might house the entire tribe. She also threw in a shoe store and gave the deed to the tribe. The entire tribe went up to the top of a nearby mountain. Looking down at the one-floor building, they realized that they were truly blessed. After all, they were a big tribe and that was one heck of a story.
